Cuarteto Rotterdam is tango: full of passion, inspiration and power. The name of the quartet which was founded in 2004 is related to the city three of the four musicians met and studied at the Rotterdam Academy for Wold Music.
Experience, creativity and imagination are the strong points of the German-English-Dutch ensemble that profits of the musicians different backgrounds.
The classic structure of the small orchestra– bandoneón, violin, piano and contrabass – is the guarantee for an ardent tango sound, ranging from traditional to modern. With playful lightness and in perfect harmony they succeed in linking the different tango era’s, thus travelling from the forties' golden age to Astor Piazzolla’s ‘ Tango Nuevo and today’s Argentine en European tango composers.
The versatility an inventiveness of their performance inspire both concert-goers and dancers.
